I remember seeing SRC at one of the auto shows at Cobo Hall back in, I believe, 1969. It was like a custom/classic car show vis-a-vis the big international one. I remember they blew me away with their cover of Heatwave. Wish I could be more exact about the date but I'm pretty sure, based on the girl I took, that it was 1969!
The date at Olympia DID include the FROST and the AMBOY Dukes! Aside from the Frost's "WEST" equipment/p.a., which everyone used... Bobby Rigg did his usual high-powered solo, Donny Hartman did his sensational and always stellar blues... and Ted Nugent performed in a white fringed American Indian outfit, with a HUGE full feathered head-dress... I remeber their shows (including California's(?) Sweetwater... It was agreat show!
have been a fan of SRC since the late 60's. I first saw them at the The Midwest Rock Festival, a music festival held at the State Fair Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on July 25th-27th, 1969. That same week they played at the Brookfield Square Mall (suberb or Milwaukee),in the Mall parking lot, which I believe was before the main show at the State Fair. (I'm still trying to find the date they played at the mall). I have been a fan ever since. I have their first album on vinyl, as well as a few MP3's from other albums. I keep trying to get more. They were an excellent band, and nothing will ever replace psychedelic rock. It's still my favorite type of music.
What about the Buddy Miles-SRC show?......the Paladium. i did the poster....don't remember the date?.......
I saw SRC in Jackson at the "Armory" seems like it was May of 1970 on a Friday night. I was 15 and owned the first album. Scot announced that Gary was back with the group. It was a great show a lot of songs from Traveler's Tale.
I had strict parents and never got to the Grande, but I followed (via WKNR) alot of Michigan Bands....Just received Traveler's Tale on CD from the SRC Records website.
Brought back memories from that night at the Jackson Armory
The only time I saw SRC perform was at a free concert (WABX?). I believe it was July or maybe August of 1970. It took place at what I understood to be the UofM practice football field. I was 15, we hitched from Livonia. Catfish also played, and maybe the Dukes and MC5, but I'm not sure. I've seen the Dukes many times (even met Ted at an NRA political rally a few years back), unfortunately I saw MC5 only once. I remember the radio advertisement proclaiming "The Quack is Back," alluding to a then recent reconciliation of Scott & Gary. I also remember that Gary wore a MAGNIFICANT purple and emerald suede fringed outfit, and emerald bubble glasses. I remember the band performing Heat Wave, No Secret Destination, and Bolero. I remember Scott swinging his microphone around by its cord like a cowboy about to wrestle a steer to the ground, and whirling around like a top. How he managed to not entangle his feet I don't know. He must have been jumping rope! I got around pretty good for a kid who didn't have a drivers license yet. Cass Lake Dodge Park 4, Eastown Theater, Hadquarters, The Other Place, The Plum Pit, Open City, Grand Circus Park, Birmingham LYI summer concerts in Livonia, lots more memories of the city I owned at 15. Now, I drive up from Atlanta in one of my antique Cadillacs for the Dream Cruise every summer. If my information helps you recall this additional performance and include it in your list, good. Please let me know, I'm charting the history of my turbulent youth, and this memory is most vivid!
My wife and I were talking and for some reason the subject of SRC came up. I am 50 years old and I saw them play at Alma High School in Alma Michigan back the in the summer of 1970...The only song that I can remember from that live set was Up All Night. Thanks for the memories!
SRC played THE ODYSSEY at 208 W. Huron on a regular basis in the early 70s.
They played at Crawfordsville High School Crawfordsville,Indiana on March 6,1970 with The Finchley Boys.Yes I was there and became a big fan ever since.
Saw SRC at the Dome in Mt Clemens with the Frut!!! Remember Scott telling the owner to F himself when he shut the power off!!!
